There are different ways a bag is created in the game.
Will start with Computer generated bags: Some bags are randomly created by the game and are free for anyone to pick up with no issues. Some of the areas these spawn are in Isla Prima (bread, small potions), Nordcarn (mercury), Whitestone (unicorn dung), and Tahraji Desert (BRs, HE).
One other set of bags that are free-for-all are bags that Ants drop. Ants are an AI test by some of the programmers of Eternal Lands. They harvest, mix, purchase from NPCs, and kill creatures. Ants drop bags in Naralik and Desert Pines. If you want any of their bags, they are free-for-all and first come first serve.
Next for the other types of bags. The players of this game will call you a bag jumper and give you alot of grief for a long time if you take someone's bag from them.
A bag will last 6-12 minutes according to how many other bags are on that technical server map. Dropping any item into the bag will reset that counter.
If a person is hunting stuff and does not pick up the hunting bags, it would be good manners to try to ask the hunter if you can pick up the bag. Some people (especially archers and summoners) will leave their bags on the ground for a while.
AFK hunters/trainers will not actively walk around killing things, but place their character where creatures automatically attack them so they can get passive experience. They often wear a gatherer medallion so they can get the drops, but on creatures like skeletons and orcs, the character will eventually fill up with bones and bags start to pile up around them. If they appear to be AFK, then you are usually safe to pick up the bags sitting around them since the bags will most likely vanish before the person comes back to pick them up.
If you find what looks like a person's death bag, you might want to post on 1,4,6. Do not say exactly what is in it. You will want to have them provide some information that will verify that they are the owner.
If you lose a bag, you might also post in 1,4,6, but keep in mind that bag-jumpers might be listening and so it might be a good idea to try to find it at the location that you died first.
In order to help yourself and your guild-mates and friends find your bag, you may want to click your compass before you fight something. This will give you the coordinates you will need.
Different groups in the game have different ideas about claiming a bag after a certain amount of time after finding it. For alot of people, it is 6 minutes. Some might still consider that bag-jumping.
If you place a worthless item on the ground and then the item poofs before the owner of a bag that you found shows up, it means that their bag would have surely poofed before they showed up. If your "timer bag" poofs before the owner of the death bag shows up, they should not be able to blame you for keeping the death-bag unless you claimed you did not find a death-bag.
If you don't want to try to find the owner of a bag, it should be perfectly acceptable to refresh the bag and walk away or simply ignore the bag.
- Creature death
- Player death
- Intentional drop (mixing, harvesting, group event)
- Computer generated (spawned) bags / NPC or creature dropped bags
